COMING SOON: INTRO. EXT.

How many lives does a film live? Not entirely sure but this cat’s got at least nine and we’re 3 edits in. To surmise I’ll start at the beginning…

INTRO. EXT. is the short film summation of my feature length experimental film, EXTERIOR. That is to say, it is a re-edit but no less a rebirth. EXTERIOR began its life as a short film in concept with a 12 page script. Upon that’s completion it felt utterly incomplete a bereft of color. So I added more color. Then some more. And more. It became a bit garish. I didn’t enjoy looking at it. Ultimately, I torn up the canvas and began again. I like looking at it now.

Synopsis

Writer Athena Reel is spinning from the suicides of her best friend, actress Mary Sue Blue and Mary’s boyfriend, rockstar Johnny Ash. Already hiding from a traumatic past, when confronted with the conditions that have brought her to the present, time becomes blurred and her stories begin to unravel. Caught in a dangerous mix of reality, fantasy and fiction, past and present Athena struggles to find a way back to life and make sense of it all when her friends could not.

INTRO. EXT. is a one of a kind meta-film, musical journey to the beyond and back. Employing no less than 8 different cameras and shot over 3 years without a budget, INTRO. EXT. explores the reality of suicide and the realities of it’s after affects. When all one has left is a playlist and a pair of earphones; the film bravely asks the viewer to hear as Athena hears and, crucially, feel as she feels.
